THE WONDER ROOM

2016.12.01 Bangkok, Thailand

for Siam Piwat
concepts are in preparation.
A redesigned select shop (boutique) on the third floor of “SIAM CENTER” a retail complex in Bangkok, Thailand.
We dare to utilize the negative fact that too many products are displayed in the boutique and each item does not stand out through making it a place where people can enjoy the process of finding a favorite item.
First concept is “Camouflage”. We applied the same texture from floor to wall even fixtures to make each product’s color and texture stand out. “Designer’s Atelier (Studio)” is our second concept. We tried to create an uplifting feel of a designer’s atelier through displaying various items selected from many young designers’ brands. People can experience and appreciate fun of digging up a young designer’s hidden masterpiece in the space camouflaged as the designer’s atelier. Fixtures that have a canvas, a frame, an easel and a drawer motifs are covered with black-and-white stripes in the same way as floor and wall. By disrupting, connecting, and making uneven stripes, we try to give variety for people who visit the boutique. While some parts of stripes are dressed in wood texture, the fitting rooms and columns are covered in green color coating. We used these effects to highlight the outline of the whole boutique.
